Multiplate culvert 22 ft in diameter and 686 ft long was buried in 50 ft of fill in Southern California; invert plates are installed after first circular section has been completed; horizontal and vertical spreaders are 10×10-ft timbers; tie rods 5/8 in. in diameter have turnbuckles so that lower half of culvert can be brought into semicircular shape; methods of bracing and backfill are described.
