High-strength strand reinforcement for concrete
New three-wire strand "Bristrand 100" which has 0.2% proof stress of 100,000 psi was developed for use at permissible working stress of 50,000 psi as reinforcement in normal nonprestressed concrete construction; details are given of tests on rectangular and T-beams reinforced with various percentages of three-wire strand and results obtained are discussed and compared with theoretical values given by suitable design method; particular attention is paid to deflections and crack widths.
