Unique structural adaptation of precast concrete panels
Design of new City Bank and Trust Co building, Boston, Mass, utilizes precast concrete window-wall panels for structural support as well as architectural decoration; precast panels are 46×9 ft; each has two columns spaced at 4 ft, 6 in. centers, two spandrel beams for each of three floors and roof, and two sills; joint between castings is at face of one of columns; about 20 panels were required to provide exterior of front of structure.
