First light weight concrete constructions in Germany; expander clay and expanded shale aggregates available at present allow obtaining light weight concrete with density ranging from 1.3 to 1.8 kg/cu cm; examples of its application to apartment houses, churches, 64.2 m span arched bridge and 1200 m long band conveyor bridge (latter constructed from prefabricated prestressed beams).
