Hydrogen evolution from ferrophosphorous aggregate in Portland cement concrete
Hydrogen evolution in heavy concrete containing ferrophosphorous aggregate was noted during construction of biological shield for nuclear generating station; factors affecting reaction and possible mechanisms involved are discussed; subsequent investigation has shown that similar reaction occurs with ferrosilicon, another heavy weight slag, otherwise of potential value in heavy concrete.
