Stress-strain behavior of concentric composite cylinders
Analytical model was developed for elastic-ideally plastic behavior of concentric cylindrical composites under uniaxial tension; model predicted creation of transverse stresses in composite during axial loading; existence of these stresses was experimentally verified in 4140 steel core-18% Ni maraging steel case composite system by examining effects of transverse stresses on composite axial stress-strain curve and composite tangential surface strain ratio curve.
