Mechanization of longwall mining in coal seam with soft floor strata
Sloping about 7°, between 1.25 and 1.46 m thick coal seam is mined at depth of 500 to 600 m; steel props, pressed by overlaying coal seam strata into soft floor, could not support weak roof; switch to hydraulically-powered, self-advancing steel roof supports has contributed to trouble-free, more efficient mining.
