Raw material parameters determining extrudability
Study of raw material characteristics that determine internal structure of extruded objects; materials included commercial brick raw materials and selected commercially pure materials; mixtures prepared permitted evaluation of clay quantity, clay mineral, particle size of clay component, particle size distribution of nonplastics and chemical additives; body composition determined stress-strain property, differential shrinkage, internal friction, cohesion and adhesion of body; information obtained on synthetic mixtures was used to predict changes in commercial structural clay materials that would correct lamination defects.
