Characteristics of clays related to dry strength
Fifteen clays representative of those used by whitewares industry were analyzed for mineralogical content, particle size gradation, surface area and filtration rate, and were tested for volume shrinkage, dry strength and loss of strength when exposed to humid storage conditions; statistical correlation indicates relative importance of various clay characteristics for controlling dry strength and shrinkage properties.
