Committee 307 report gives material, construction, and design requirements for reinforced concrete chimneys and sets forth recommended loadings for design of chimneys and recommended methods for determining stresses in concrete and reinforcement resulting from loadings; charts for rapid solution of specified formulas are included; method can be used for other hollow circular cross sections, with or without openings, where shell thickness is small in proportion to diameter; formulas are recommended for determining temperature gradient through concrete resulting from difference in temperature of gases inside chimney and surrounding atmosphere.
