Illinois rebuilds U.S. Highway 66
Three important requirements of modern highway design are incorporated in new construction on US Highway 66 between St Louis and Chicago: belt line construction to by-pass all but smaller towns along highway, limited access and subgrade preparation to prevent future pavement pumping.
