Crystallinity of poly-2,2 prime -octamethylene-5,5 prime -dibenzimidazole
X-ray diffraction analysis has demonstrated that there is rich crystalline texture in newly-formed fibers of poly-2,2 prime -octamethylene-5,5 prime -dibenzimidazole; newly-cast unoriented films give corresponding powder patterns; after treatment at 160 and 200 C there is considerable amorphization which is accompanied by big increase in strength and initial elasticity modulus of fibers.
