Extension of author's earlier work on complementary energy method for large deformations and elastic stability; by confining attention to those configurations that system passes to immediately after it has buckled, total complementary energy of plate is expressed as homogeneous quadratic functional in unknown internal forces; differential equations of compatibility and forced and natural boundary conditions corresponding to exact solutions of problem are established; for purpose of illustration, exact and approximate solutions are obtained for number of problems of buckling of rectangular and circular plates.
