Predicting displacements of laterally loaded piles in noncohesive soils
Methods of prediction of soil-pile interaction and deflection of pile under lateral load; test on rigid pile, on flexible pile, and by actual measurement of modulus of horizontal subgrade reaction; relative merits of each test; data from tests on model aluminum piles with different depths of embedment in sand; analysis indicates that test data from rigid piles, when used to predict displacements of flexible pile, may yield erroneous results.
