Indraprastha bhavan, New Delhi -- Some design features
Several design features of two multistory buildings constituting newly completed Indraprastha Bhavan in New Delhi; one building is six stories high while other is eight stories, story height in each being 11 ft; foundations have been designed as reinforced concrete spread footings and combined footings and are interconnected by ties capable of resisting both tension and compression; among most interesting features of these buildings are staircases which consist of two intertwining helical beams with cantilevered treads and risers.
