Features in design and construction of drapers gardens development
Paper discusses briefly various schemes that were considered for construction of 326-ft high office tower which forms main element of building complex at Drapers Gardens and describes in detail main features of solution adopted; account is given of soil conditions and problems involved during construction of substructure; design and construction of in-situ central core and prefabricated elements of prestressed concrete floor system are described; construction of solid steel columns along perimeter, together with details of fire resistance test carried out, is also given; second-floor cantilever structure, which has been used to transfer loads on columns to core, is described in detail.
