Experiment in obtaining and evaluating grain size of coarse-grained tungsten powders
It was established that homogeneous tungsten powders, with grain size of 10 to 50 μm, may be obtained by reduction of paratungstate of ammonium, or its oxides obtained in muffle furnace at 1200 C, with consumption of hydrogen of 4 cu m/hr; methods were developed for evaluation of grain size of tungsten powders by making briquets which are impregnated with copper. (see also English translation in Soviet Powder Met and Metal Cer n 5 Sept-Oct 1964 p 415-17)
