Face-wrinkling mode of buckling of sandwich panels
Two methods are presented for predicting face-wrinkling failure stresses for edgewise loaded sandwich panels; one method, based on Forest Product Laboratory theoretical parameters, is for specialized case of Fiberglas-facing, aluminum-honeycomb-core; second method, based on theory developed by S.Yusuff, is applicable to all types of sandwiches; essential contribution of this study is formulation of method for estimating initial waviness; extensive experimental data were used and reasonable correlations with theory were obtained.
