A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Construction procedures that play significant part in determining extent of settlements that may occur in design of pile and pier foundations are examined under two simplified categories, including those that occur although adequate knowledge already exists for their prevention and those that occur for reasons inadequately understood; excessive settlement caused by lack of knowledge of soil mechanics and of construction practices is discussed.
