Design and construction of 1310 ft fishing pier at Venice, Calif is described; pier is all-concrete structure with deck supported at centerline by single row of 24-in.-diam piles; pile caps run longitudinally and join end to end to provide continuous support for deck slabs; all major components from piles and deck to guard rails and benches are of precast concrete; ideas of designers and contractor who helped keep costs below rigid limit set by appropriations are listed.
