Oil jetties at Port of Hull
Design and construction of two reinforced-concrete jetty heads, of 396 ft and 258 ft oa lengths, that were constructed in deep water approximately 1600 ft from bank of Humber, east of Hull dock system; new jetty heads are founded on steel Rendhex foundation columns driven as bearing piles on to hard chalk at average depth of 60 ft below dredged level; to accommodate unusually large number of 57 pipe lines, approaches to jetty heads have pipe bearers at three levels; together with 10 ft wide roadway for pedestrain traffic; jetty approaches form Y-shape and for most of their length are supported on 16 in. square reinforced-concrete piles founded on firm stratum of boulder clay.
