Hammer-blow impact on main girders of railway bridges
Study of hammer-blow impact due to balance-weights in driving-wheels of locomotives, suggesting that practice of allowing for effect of dynamic stresses by impact factor multiplier of maximum static live load should be maintained, but that each of known causes of impact should be separately computed; formulas for "skidding wheels" effect of diameter of driving-wheels; standardization of impact factor allowance; shear impacts.
