Extinguishing burning at wick by use of non-inflammable liquids
Burning at wick of binary mixtures of inflammable with noninflammable liquids studied; mixtures burn without change of composition; this is in contrast with burning at free surface, in which more volatile constituent is preferentially removed; mixture of limiting inflammability at wick corresponds in composition to vapor in equilibrium with mixture of limiting inflammability in bulk, rather than to limit liquid mixture.
