Old bridge spans launched into river
Method employed for dismantling Monon's Wabash River bridge when it replaced old truss spans with new deck plate girder spans; savings effected in cost of bridge rehabilitation through procedure in which, using launching beams, old spans were dropped into river, and then cut up and dragged out as scrap; new spans of shorter length installed by crane without use of falsework.
