Friction coefficients in large tunnel
Measurements to determine friction and roughness coefficients for three different surfaces in Apalachia Tunnel of Tennessee Valley Authority; sections tested were 18-ft steel pipe coated with bituminous paint, 18-ft concrete lined tunnel and unlined rock tunnel of 20- and 22-ft nominal diam; discharges during tests varied from 975 to 3210 cu ft per sec. (See also - discussions n 7, 8, 9, Sept p 1122-38, Oct p 1307-9, Nov p 1450-4)
