Mine is about 3 mi west of Petaca; mica mining in district dates back to early days, when sheet mica was used for windows; many mica-bearing pegmatites occur irregularly in pre-Cambrian gneiss; Bureau of Mines work consisted of exploration and development of reserves reported to be left in Apache dike, east of caved workings.
