Disintegrating upstream face of dam preserved with blanket of concrete
Frost damage of concrete Barker Dam, Colo, repaired by setting up wall of precast concrete slabs to serve as form, welding projecting dowels to steel embedded in upstream face of dam and filling intervening space with densely packed aggregate; final step was grouting operation to complete bonding of old and new portions of structure. (See also Western Construction News v 22 n 5 May 1947 p 94-5; Construction Methods v 29 n 6 June 1947 p 82-4)
