Shear strength of pressure-grouted surfaces
Results of tests made with cement grouted concrete, in connection with Dnieper Dam repairs; taking safety factor of 3 and assuming that for repairs, "moist air" conditions will obtain, it appears that permissible shear stress to be assumed in joint is somewhere between 24 lb per sq in. and one half of that figure. English abstract from Gidrotehnicheskoe Stroitelstvo n 4 1946 p 19-20. (See also Engrs' Digest (British Edition) v 8 n 2 Feb 1947 p 38)
