Corrosion of reinforcing steel in cracked concrete
64 small concrete blocks containing steel wires and deformed bars as reinforcing were loaded as beams to produce cracks normal to direction of steel; after ten years outside exposure, steel specimens were removed from concrete and examined for amount of corrosion; corrosion was found for short distances in region of cracks but was too minor in degree to be considered of serious consequence.
