Results of rheological studies in potash mines
To determine rates of deformation, measurements were made in 12 different potash mines at depths varying from 1200-3300 ft; parameters of rheological behavior of salt-bearing rock which were studied included modulus of elasticity, viscosity parameter and relaxation time; formulas for calculating stresses and deformations around cavities were applied to practical conditions and compared with results obtained by measuring convergences in circular roadways driven in rock-salt at depth of 3300 ft.
