Analogue solution for determining elastic response of strata surrounding tabular mining excavations
Mathematical analogy between elastic laws and equations governing steady flow of electricity is developed into practical tool, based on principles of electrolytic tanks; analogy between elastic closure and ride components in underground excavations and voltages measured in simulated excavations in tank are established; construction and performance of prototype analog and outline of improvements and refinements which are planned; situations have been modeled for 4 different mines.
