Recent developments in roof bolting and roof bolt installation procedure
Methods of roof bolting, improved procedures for installing conventional roof bolts, causes of failures and incorrect practices; essential requirements can be met by using roof stud with hemispherical seat, dished washer and puller; this arrangement makes it possible for studs to be stressed uniformly to initial loading which allows for any anticipated loss in tension due to temperature changes and will, therefore, ensure good roof consolidation; studs can be loaded still further by roof movement, to extent of 80-90%.
