Mine roof rock and roof bolt behavior resulting from nearby blasts
Observations were made in upper shale production headings at White Pine Copper Co room and pillar mine, White Pine, Mich; roof bolt compression pads and stratascope were used in investigations, which were carried out in 3 separate test sites in which nearly identical procedure produced comparative, repetitive, and anomalous observations; results indicate roof bolt tension change and roof quality deterioration anomalies were coincident with blasting; hypothesized cause of anomalies is seismic shock generated by blasts.
