2-truck locomotive built for National French Railway is powered by two 16-cyl 2060-hp C.A.P.L. diesel engines; 3-speed Voith-S.F.A.C. hydraulic turbo-transmission has ranges of 0 to 70 km/hr, 70 to 125 km/hr, and 125-140 km/hr; engine controls comprise antislip device which is actuated by accelerometer and which reduces engine speed until traction between wheel and rail is re-established; by careful design, weight of locomotive was reduced to 82,300 tons.
