Infiltration and permeability of weathered crystalline rocks, Georgia nuclear laboratory, Dawson County, Georgia
Investigation was made in area of Radiation Effects Laboratory of Georgia Nuclear Laboratory to determine probable effect of discharging waste into disposal pit constructed in weathered crystalline rocks; infiltration rate through weathered material was determined by discharging water into disposal pit and maintaining heads of 1 to 3 ft in pit for periods of 3 1/2 to 54 wk; results of tests indicate that most of water from pit moves along strike of schistosity, and some moves downdip and updip.
