Hexagonal houses by industrialised building methods
Two-story, 2-bedroom prefabricated house is steel framed, low rise system with nonload-bearing infill panels and partitions; hexagonal frame is constructed of tubular steel columns, angles and tee sections around central duct, and first floor and roof are constructed of timber joists and composite wood boarding; hexagon design was selected because of its ability to reduce party wall to minimum; to change direction at 60°, enabling natural contours of site to be followed, and its suitability to mirror upon 3 axes.
