Problems involved in floodlighting of 2-story building of Tex-Craft Builders, Inc, at Houston, Tex, which incorporates 2 grained white marble display panels at each side of main entrance; IES Lighting Handbook indicated that marble had transmittance factor of from 5 to 30% with high absorption and good diffusion for average thickness; therefore, it seemed possible that if strong enough light could be projected against 1 in. thick marble, there would be transmittance enough through panel; details of actual installation using 500-w medium beam enclosed floodlight with quartz-iodine lamp.
