Tentative procedure for estimating recreational highway traffic
Summary of research study performed at Ontario Dept of Highways to gather new data for large scale recreational travel; study resulted in procedure and nomograph for estimating recreational and nonrecreational trips on summer weekdays and weekends; procedure proposed may be applied as substitute for weekend Ontario Dept of Highways surveys on heavily traveled recreational routes, where it is undesirable to stop traffic on weekends, and as check on standard type of weekday traffic; results of spot check of four surveys compared with estimates made by use of nomograph.
