Minimum steel quantity solutions for plastic design of reinforced concrete circular cylindrical tanks subjected to radially symmetric loads; amounts of steel are compared to tanks designed by other methods; use of method of direct lower-bound design of reinforced concrete circular cylindrical shells subjected to three different boundary conditions showed that fixed-base case gave lowest reinforcing steel volume; method of design is particularly applicable to lined concrete tanks. (19996)
