Stability analysis using lumped-parameter analysis
Lumped parameter models, consisting of springs and rigid bars, are used to study stability of structural systems; linear as well as nonlinear post buckling behavior is simulated by means of models; it is shown that in study of change in mode shape during post buckling of plates, models can give qualitative information concerning presence of unsuspected modes of failure; in design of columns it appears feasible to evaluate spring constants and obtain quantitative results.
