Stationary, gaussian random process, is used to analyze response statistics of nonlinear yield type structures subjected to earthquake excitations; structures investigated are single-mode oscillators which have history-dependent and -independent internal energy dissipation mechanisms as represented by stiffness degrading and ordinary elasto-plastic models; emphasis is placed on probability distribution of single highest displacement response of structures and accumulation of damages caused by consecutive earthquake loadings.
