Seismic response of structure-foundation systems
Method for investigating seismic response of single-story elastic structures on elastic foundation media which are represented by elastic half-space; by inspecting frequency dependent nature of foundation properties, it is found that good approximations to seismic response of interaction system may be obtained by taking average values for foundation properties in range of harmonics frequencies of earthquake excitation; results indicate that response of structure may be increased or decreased when compared to response of same structure on rigid foundation; interpretation of behavior is offered by means of spectral velocity curves.
