Behavior of eccentrically loaded bolted connections
Rational theoretical method of predicting ultimate load on eccentrically loaded fastener groups was developed; method is based on recognition of true load-deformation response of fasteners; validity of theoretical approach was verified by extensive testing program; series of single bolt tests on A325, 3/4 in. diam bolts were conducted to obtain load-deformation relationship of individual bolts for use in theoretical prediction of ultimate load; eight full-size bolted connection specimens which were designed to carry eccentric loads were tested.
