Cyclic yield reversal in steel building connections
Description of design and quasi-static testing of selected steel beam-to-column connection specimens; motivations for choice of connection types and overall geometry of specimens, relating them to full-size prototypes used in actual building frames; programs of cycling of test are presented in terms of deflection of tip of cantilever beam; hysteresis diagrams and failure photographs; features of behavior of several specimends during testing are compared, and possible explanations given; it is shown that steel connections are resistant to failure due to cyclically induced damage.
