Construction problems experienced with loess soils
Paper is based on author's experience and study of loess from Mississippi and Nebraska; physical and structural properties are discussed concerning feasibility of loess soil as construction or foundation material; construction of Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District Project is described; project showed that loess soil could safely be used in construction work as embankment materal or in situ as foundation material for earth dam structures or hydraulic structures.
