Statically accurate limiting equilibrium procedure for numerical treatment of nonhomogeneous earth slopes includes variety of loads including static approximation for influence of seismic forces; procedure is carried out with use of effective strength parameters and yields factor of safety on strength for any specified potential slip surface of physically reasonable shape; example which gives results for several loading conditions, and comparisons with previous methods are included, and provide tool for estimating stability of complex earth slopes.
