Experimental estimation of detention in storm sewer system
Results of experimental study on storm runoff in urban area showed that phenomena called as flow detention, retardation, storage and flooding were hydraulically identical phenomena; experiments were made for sewer slopes of 1/200 and 1/1000; control structures had negative effects on capacity of dynamic storage except when flooding in lower area was concerned or when drainage pump capacity was designed to be depressed; flooding does not always occur by increasing of return period because maximum rate of runoff becomes steady state when calculated by rational method.
