Recommended rock classification for rock mechanics purposes
Sub-Committee on Rock Classification, Canadian Advisory Committee on Rock Mechanics, has evolved classification of rocks which should prove useful in studies of rock mechanics; considered in two stages, actual rock substance and rock mass, five-point classification involves geological name of rock, rock strength and rock deformation, and, in second stage, gross homogeneity of rock mass and formation continuity.
