Experimental composite pavement in New Jersey
Terrain involved in experimental pavement design is essentially marshland; route is heavily traveled carrying approximately 80,000 vehicles daily, of which 17% are in heavy truck category; over 42-mo period of operation composite pavement has performed in accordance with design objectives; there has been average total settlement of 0.06 ft in this period, most of which occurred within first 18 mo of service.
