Chart for determining equivalent single-wheel loads
New chart developed is based on Burmister's layered theory programmed for high-speed computer for determining loads for flexible pavements; equivalent single-wheel load is defined as single wheel load which results in maximum deflection in subgrade equal to that produced by set of dual wheels; chart takes ratio of moduli of elasticity of pavement and subgrade into account; equivalent single-wheel load for various combinations of pavement thickness, modulus ratio, wheel spacing, and contact radius can be obtained from chart which shows that equivalent single-wheel load increases appreciably with increase in modulus ratio.
